Our Breeding Philosophy
We have puppies available occasionally from what we feel to be parents that are good representations of the breed. We try to improve the breed with each litter we help in producing.
All of our Goldens that we use for a breeding will be cleared for Hips, Elbows, and Heart and registered through the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation For Animals) and/or evaluated by Cornell University and Eyes are cleared annually by a Board Certified Cardiologist and registered through CERF (Canine Eye Registration Foundation). Each Dogs clearance information is on their page. By using parents that are free of these known diseases we try and reduce the severity and occurence of these diseases showing up in the offspring. There is never a guarantee that a puppy will not be free of said diseases, but we do as much as we can to lessen the chances. Please take the time to read more about hip dysplasia by clicking here.
We are available to new families for the life of the puppies we produce, we never leave you.
Our puppies are raised in our living room around constant noise and everyday "going on's". Our three small children help in the socialization of the puppies on a constant basis... they are never left with out "eyes" watching them. Outside visitors are welcome to come over after the puppies have turned 6 weeks of age and have had their first set of innoculations. We feel very strong about this as they are very susceptible to germs before this period of time and their health and safety is our top priority. All of our prospective puppy homes are screened very carefully to ensure they will fit well into the families lifestyle and that the families are suitable to the needs of the puppy. We may at times disapprove of a home due to a Golden Retriever not being the best choice for your lifestyle. All we want is the best for you and our puppies.
Our puppies are placed with their new families between the ages of 8-9 weeks of age, we will never place a puppy under 8 weeks of age as they need this time to be properly socialized with us, other animals and most importantly their mother. We DO NOT sell puppies to brokers, pets shops, or any "middle-men" of any kind at ANYTIME! All of our pet puppies are sold on a Limited Registration, which means that they are not to be used for breeding purposes and MUST be spayed or neutered. Every family must sign a Health Guarantee Contract as well as a Spay/Neuter Contract on the day of pick up.
We hope you take the time to research the Golden Retriever Breed before deciding if one is right for you and your family. Please visit the GRCA website to read the Public Education section to make sure if a Golden Retriever is right for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us!
