Why Should I Register my Puppy with the AKC?
When you first started researching a breeder for a Golden Retriever puppy, you wanted an AKC Golden Retriever, right? Now ask your self “why?......to ensure that the parents and relatives were registered with the AKC? So you would know your puppies background information? So you can learn valuable information of your puppies ancestors? If you answered yes to any of those questions, then........ why not register your puppy with the American Kennel Club (AKC) to add to their family tree?
I am going to try and answer this question for you......
AKC papers are very important. They set your dog apart, acknowledging its special status as a purebred dog. When you register your new puppy, AKC will send you a certificate that preserves your dog’s heritage.
When you are filling out the Registration papers, you will be able to pick out a unique name for your new puppy that no other purebred dog registered with the AKC can have. It will be your puppies name only!! Isn’t that exciting enough to make you want to register them?
Even though it may not currently be in your plans, you may find that sooner or later you may want to participate in one of the many events or services the AKC has to offer. To participate, your dog must be AKC registered. AKC also provides you with many resources and materials.
When you register your puppy with the AKC you will receive 60 days of free pet healthcare insurance with the option to continue the insurance for a low monthly payment for as long as you would like.
Registering your new puppy is fast, easy and very affordable. It costs as low as $15 and a stamp to send the AKC registration papers in.
AKC is a not-for-profit organization.
The AKC gives you 12 months to register your puppy before their is a penalty fee, so it is best to register your puppy as soon as you have picked a unique name. This is why we fill out all the paperwork when you come and pick your puppy up.
The AKC will send you a registration certificate that identifies the puppy as the offspring of a known sire and dam, born on a known date. AKC also offers an option to get a 3 or 4 generation pedigree for your puppy, which includes your puppies family tree.
AKC keeps a record of all purebred dogs that are registered.
Now the question is............... “why wouldn’t you register your purebred dog?
If you have any questions about registering your puppy, please feel free to ask me......
